White Samsung Omnia

Are you ready to do a double take? At first glance, what do the following pictures look like:

If you said iPhone, congratulations, you’re only the twelve billionth person to say so. And that’s not a bad thing… especially considering the Omnia’s feature set blows the iPhone completely out of the water.

Apparently the White Samsung Omnia is now available in Singapore and it comes with a white stylus to match. The FRONT of the Omnia remains the same as the original, black Omnia version. Hello… earth to AT&T… will you please launch this on AT&T?

Samsung Omnia Tour/Overview

The guys at the::unwired have put together a nice 15 minute video that walks you through the various features of the Samsung Omnia. It offers a very nice introduction to the phone, illustrating what its like to use some of the main features like calling, texting, attaching multimedia to messages, etc…

We’ve also just added their full review to our Samsung Omnia Review page, so be sure to check that out as well! See their Overview Video Here.S

AT&T Will Get the Samsung Omnia!

Horrifying rumors that the Samsung Omnia will not come to the United States… BEGONE! The rumors have been exorcised by the Boy Genius Report who reports that AT&T “contacts” have claimed they’ll get the phone in 3rd Quarter this year! That’s July, August or September for the whiz kids counting on their fingers.

A few specs for your perouzing:

Thank you, AT&T, for bringing our American Dream to a reality!

Samsung Omnia Touch Screen Video Demo

Here is a pretty complete look at the Samsung Omnia Touch Screen. It takes you through pretty much every single feature of the phone, albeit briefly, and gives you a great idea how interacting with the phone seems effortless:

You’ll notice a few error messages here and there, such as when the Opera Mobile Browser is launched. That is likely because the phone wasn’t configured for Internet service. Not a reason to be alarmed!

Samsung Previews the Omnia (Video)

Prior to CommunicAsia, Samsung shot off some fireworks with their official announcement of the Omnia. This video was filmed by a Samsung Employee and posted by the company to YouTube so you KNOW its nothing but official.

Whaddaya say, playboy? Looks pretty balling!

Samsung Omnia Video Tour

Thanks to the good folks at MobileCrunch, we get an early peak at what promises to be the hottest phone released this summer… the Samsung Omnia!

This isn’t a complete review but rather a video of someone playing with if for the first time. So, although you get a good look at a variety of the different features of the Omnia, it is by no means an exhaustive or extensive review of the product but rather a introductory overview.

Either way, we enjoyed the heck out of it!

CrunchGear Asks: Why Today?

John Biggs posed an interesting question in his announement of the Samsung Omnia… why today?

Today is the World Wide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) and during Steve Jobs keynote presentation, he (and inherently Apple) are widely expected to launch the 3G iPhone and provide more details on the iTunes App Store launch.

With all the fanfare and hype surrounding the 3G iPhone, why would Samsung use today to launch the Omnia? Is it because they think it is better? Is it because they want people to hold off on buying the iPhone to wait for the Omnia? Is it because they think the Omnia, side by side, defeats the iPhone in specs, features and looks?

We can’t be sure… but most people seem to think it was a dumb idea.

But lets be honest… the competition for the iPhone is mounting. Its funny to think about because only 1 year ago the iPhone didn’t exist. Today, everyone wants to beat it.

Now you have the Samsung Instinct, BlackBerry Thunder, SE Xperia, HTC Diamond and now the Omnia all comxing out in the near future. The iPhone no longer even comes CLOSE to standing alone.

Perhaps Samsung wanted to make the point that they don’t care what Apple’s agenda is. The world should be looking at THEM because they are the ones who have new things going on. Everyone pretty much knows what will be announced at WWDC unless we are wrong and there are some huge suprises.

But we’d love to know from Samsung directly… what was the strategy on releasing it today? When it comes down to it they DID decide on today for a reason and it HAD to be part of some strategy. Perhaps a flawed strategy, but a strategy nonetheless. Unless Samsung is oblivious to the world around them.

But, when you’re aware enough to make a phone that kicks this much butt, “oblivious” isn’t something that comes to mind. No… “Motorola” comes to mind when we think oblivious.

Samsung Omnia Orientation Sensor?

According to PhoneMag, the Samsung Omnia has an Orientation Sensor that we’re dying to learn more about. Here is the actual quote that they picked up from CNET Asia:

an orientation sensor is built into the OMNIA i900. When rotated, it does this fancy transition whereby the display shrinks and expands back to fill the screen in a different orientation. The 240 x 400 display does seem a little weird, but is not unheard of–we’ve seen it in the ASUS M930’s internal display. It makes sense, too, if you are to use it as a media player because the aspect ratio is much closer to the 16:9 aspect ratio commonly seen in movie files. To that end, the i900 also comes with a media application that supports DivX and Xvid out of the box.

This does indeed sound like the featured display of the iPhone and HTC Diamond that have been one of its most loved and unique characteristics. Hopefully, Samsung has done as great of a job as Apple and HTC at implementing it.

I guess we’ll have to wait until the first Samsung Omnia Video demo comes along to really know if thats true. Sure, we could read a review about it, but this is something you’ve got to see for yourself.

GSMArena Snags Omnia Pics

We’ve got to give props where props are due… and GSMArena definitely came through in the clutch, snagging a whole gaggle of Omnia pics for our enjoyment. We’ve added them to our gallery but wanted to make sure that credit was given where credit is due.

A lot of people will immediately make the Omnia vs. iPhone comparison and GSMArena seems to think its a worthy matchup at least in the looks department. But that begs the question… does any touchscreen phone automatically get compared to the iPhone and questioned as “the next iPhone killer”?

Yup… and its annoying but something you just have to deal with. Regardless, this phone is a beauty and thanks to GSMArena for sharing their pics with us!

IntoMobile: Omnia Trumps Instinct, iPhone?

IntoMobile claims that the Omnia simply blows the Samsung Instinct out of the water. And while Samsung launched a 1 million dollar campaign touting the Instinct’s superior features compared directly to the iPhone, these guys think the Omnia is the device that REALLY gives the iPhone a run for its money.

So… if the Instinct matches the iPhone feature for feature, in many cases beating it, and the Omnia is much better than the Instinct, can we assume that the Omnia is much better than the iPhone?

You could… and it may be. Some will be turned off by Windows Mobile… but there is no denying that the Samsung Omnia is a force to be reckoned with.
